Hidden Enemies Blurb
Then she meets Cole. Among his many...attributes...is his book Hidden Enemies. Jenna learns everything she needs to know about hiding, and finds more than she'd anticipated in Cole.
Excerpt Jenna stretched lazily and opened one eye. She didn't have to think to remember where she was, her body's aching tenderness evoked pleasant memories of who and what she'd been doing the previous night, and again several times very early this morning. Hearing the sound of the shower running, she assumed Cole was getting ready to leave for his seminar.
Propping herself up on the bed pillows, she allowed her mind to drift over the last few hours and her sexual marathon. Totally out of character, she'd slept with a man she'd known only a few very short hours, and didn't feel the smallest twinge of remorse. In fact, her attitude about the entire experience bordered on the antithesis of regret--it approached blatant reverence.
When she remembered the heights Cole had taken her to, the things they'd done to one another and the pleasure they shared...several times...she wanted to purr and strut like a sated cat. Her bubbling self-satisfaction morphed quickly into curiosity when Jenna noticed several books stacked on the dresser beside Cole's suitcase. They were all the same and that reminded her vaguely of something Cole said last night. He'd written a book she wouldn't understand or be interested in. Hah! Everything about him interested her.
Hopping stark naked from the bed, she charged across the room, searching for her clothes. Since she wouldn't bother with a shower until she went back to her room, and her hair was beyond help, it took her all of one minute to dress. Grabbing one of the books, she settled down in the chair by the open drapes.
Cole hadn't told Jenna his last name, but it was written in bold black letters across his book. Cole Matheson. The title, Hidden Enemies, intrigued her. The book sounded like a murder mystery. Opening the book to the table of contents, she scanned the contents and her stomach dropped to the floor and rolled over.
Hiding in Plain Sight.
False Identities--from Copy Machines to the Internet
Where's the Money--Techniques that are Almost Impossible to Trace
And it went on. Quickly skimming the first few pages proved to Jenna that she was holding the answer to all her problems in her shaking hands. Cole had written a fugitive's bible. It might be intended to help law enforcement and the military track criminals and terrorists, but in her fast read she'd already managed to pick up a few helpful hints. She went back to the beginning and started over.
Absorbed in Cole's book, Jenna briefly glanced up when the door to the bathroom opened, her attention riveted when Cole sauntered boldly into the room dressed in only a small, white towel that barley managed to reach around his hips. She'd traced and thought she'd memorized every inch of his body last night. But she decided to really get the best effect he needed to be naked and standing a few feet away. In the sunlight, his hair wasn't just brown--it was streaked with fiery highlights of red and blond. His long dark hair was brushed back from his face, allowing her to appreciate the dark slash of his eyebrows accenting a rugged and chiseled face. The long thin scar on the left side ran from the apple of his cheek to his chin, and gave him a bad boy look instead of detracting from his male beauty.
His massive shoulders were thrown back in perfect military posture, his smooth, tan chest accented by the dark discs of his large nipples. "Wow."
"You're drooling."
"Ummm, how much time before--"
"Not enough for that, sweetheart. I wouldn't want to rush. We'll have to hold those thoughts for tonight. Speaking of tonight, where would you like to go for dinner?"
"Room service." Jenna blinked. Did she just say that?
