Autumn grimaced and continued, “There’s more. When the Lords couldn’t control the Witches, they decided they wanted to rule mankind. Typically, we don’t have a lot of contact with the Supernatural Council, which is the supreme ruling council for not just Dragon Witches and Lords, but also the vampires and shifters, as well as the fae, Cabals, and all species of Others. Right now, with the issues surrounding the demon and his plan to rule the world, we are overrun with council members and Others. Vlad leads the council by the way. He and his wife Veronica are here most of the time lately because we're working together and the hunt for the demon is centered at Dragon Home.”

He snorted. “I wondered why he was around so much. You all seem to have a love/hate relationship with that vampire.”

Autumn laughed. “True. Only I’d say it was more a love/fear. Vlad is… Well, he’s a centuries-old vampire who would rather kill all his enemies than negotiate with them. Then he would put their head on pikes and make sure everyone could see them—so their fear would keep them from bothering him again.”

“But the world won’t put up with that any longer,” Nico said.

She snorted. “Veronica wouldn’t put up with that. She is his forever love. Vlad dotes on her. And Ronnie absolutely loves him. For Vlad, that means if Veronica wouldn’t like something—Vlad won’t do it. She has become his conscience. His moral compass.”

Nico turned to her. “So, you protect Veronica at all costs.
It wasn’t a question.
