Looking out the window she watched him take the bike and push it a little away from her wagon. She turned to look for her keys. She planned to follow in the truck so she would have her own transportation. She didn’t worry about hurrying. She knew where Nathan lived.

She heard him start the bike. She frowned when the sound told her he didn’t go very far before the bike was turned off. Quickly Gypsy left the Vardo and ran through the campground to the road. He was nowhere in sight. She stood there for a moment until a slight sound snagged her attention and she looked across the highway. She crossed over and streaks of moonlight highlighted bits of the grass and shrubs that were broken down.

Frowning, she carefully picked her way through the dark, around trees and following the slight trail of the bike. An owl hooted. She heard a stream trickling over rocks not far away. Within a few moments, she found Jason chaining the bike to a tree. Now she was really confused. She squatted down to hide for a moment. Wondering what the hell she would say to him and what he was doing?

He walked a few steps away from his bike to a small clearing. When he touched the stone embedded in the leather strap around his neck, his clothes melted away. An iridescent glow surrounded and consumed him, and a large golden eagle flapped its heavy wings and shot up through the night sky. She watched it catch a wind current and begin to soar, disappearing behind a cloud.

Gypsy’s mouth dropped open. She stood up and put her hands on her hips. Huffing out air, she stomped her foot. Disgusted. “Well, shit.”
